MOZAMBIQUE- Cambodia seizes nearly 1 ton of trafficked elephant tusks imported from Mozambique

Cambodian authorities on Tuesday confiscated 941 kg of elephant tusks at the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port in southwestern Preah Sihanouk province, a government-aligned media reported. Some 279 pieces of elephant tusks were found in hollowed-out logs inside three containers, which had been imported from the southern African nation of Mozambique by Cam Transit Import Company, Fresh News reported, citing a police report. The company declared in a manifest that the goods were timbers, the report said; adding that the seizure came after the authorities scanned those containers.
